What Our Privacy Policy Covers

When we use the term “personal information” we are referring to information about you as an individual, but only where you can be identified from the information (whether alone or in combination with other information). This may include things like your name, social media handle, e-mail address, mailing address, birthday, telephone number, photographs, personal images, beauty profile information you provide such as hair color and eye color, or information about the products you purchase.

We have a legitimate interest in contacting applicants and communicating with them concerning normal business as well as their application. We also have a legitimate interest in tracking our influencers’ presence on social media.
E-Mail List We collect your email address as part of the #SephoraSquad program. We have a legitimate interest in sharing information about our future influencer opportunities.
Information from our Partner We partner with a third party to collect information about your online presence in order to assess your application for the #SephoraSquad Program. Examples include: how many and the types of followers you have. We have a legitimate interest in fulfilling our promotions.
Testimonials When you leave a testimonial about a Sephora influencer, we collect your name, email address, Instagram handle, and any additional information you choose to submit. We have a legitimate interest in understanding your opinions, and collecting information relevant to the #SephoraSquad program.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Sephora primarily uses the personal information that it collects for the purposes described above, to provide you with products, information, and services. We also use your information to contact you for promotional purposes, to improve our services and product offerings, and to respond to inquiries. For instance, we may contact you to see if you might be interested in other social media influencer campaigns or projects. We also use your personal information for other legitimate business purposes, including managing our relationships and maintaining business records.

How We Share Your Personal Information

Sephora shares your personal information in the following circumstances, in addition to the specific situations discussed elsewhere in this policy:

  • Service providers. We share your personal information with companies that perform services for us, such as helping us to administer our website, sending postal mail and e-mails, analyzing customer data, providing marketing assistance, conducting customer surveys, and providing customer service.
  • Partners. We share your personal information with third parties that we have partnered with to jointly create and offer a product or service. These joint marketing partners may only use this information to market and offer Sephora-related products, unless you have given consent for other uses. Additionally, to the extent permitted by law, Sephora’s joint marketing partners may share your personal information with us to better serve you.
  • Other disclosures with your consent. We may ask if you would like us to share your information with other unaffiliated third parties who are not described elsewhere in this policy. For instance, if you leave a testimonial about a #SephoraSquad influencer, we will share your testimonial as part of a non-sponsored Instagram Story.

Sephora may share your personal information in order to protect the legal rights of our company, our employees, our agents, and our affiliates, to protect the safety and security of our visitors, to detect and protect against fraud, or to comply with law or legal process.
  • Business transition. Sephora may share your personal information with another company that buys some, or all, of the assets or stock of Sephora, and that company may use and disclose personal information for purposes similar to what is described in this policy. Sephora may also share personal information with prospective purchasers to evaluate the proposed transaction.
  • Aggregate information. We may share de-identified aggregate information about our customers with advertisers and marketing partners.
  • Behavioral-based advertising. A third party may use technology (e.g., a cookie) to collect information about your use of our website and other websites so that they can provide advertising about products and services tailored to your interest. In connection with your #SephoraSquad submission, we realize that you trust us to protect your personal information. We realize that our customers trust us to protect their personal information. We take that task seriously and maintain reasonable and appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to help protect your personal information. While we attempt to protect the information in our possession, no security system is perfect and we cannot promise that information about you will remain secure in all circumstances.

Receiving newsletters and promotional e-mails You may choose to provide us with your email address for the purpose of allowing us to send free newsletters, surveys, offers, and other promotional materials to you, as well as targeted offers from third parties. You can stop receiving promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in e-mails you receive. If you decide not to receive promotional emails, we may still send you service related communications.
Please call 1-877-SEPHORA to discontinue receiving material by mail.
Behavioral Based Advertising You can opt-out of some, but not all, online behavioral based advertising by clicking  here or by using your browser settings to block cookies or notify you when a cookie is set.
Online Tracking We do not currently recognize automated browser signals regarding tracking mechanisms, which may include "Do Not Track" instructions.

Information for California Residents

California residents may be entitled to ask us for a notice describing what categories of personal information (if any) we share with third parties or affiliates for direct marketing. If you are a California resident and would like a copy of such notice, please submit a written request to us using the information in the “Communicating With Us” section below.
